Automotive Repair Facilities & Hazardous Materials


Hazardous materials and regulated wastes as listed in the Code of Federal Regulations, 40 CFR Part 261, present various health and safety environmental risks. Serious injury and even death could result from these substances.
Hazardous materials and regulated wastes often associated with automotive repair facilities include:
* Petroleum products - including hydraulic fluid, motor oil, lubricants, emulsions and oil coolants
* Parts cleaners and parts washers including paint thinners and solvents
* Engine coolant, lead acid batteries and rags contaminated with petroleum and solvents
Personnel Training
Preventing or minimizing exposure to hazardous materials/wastes is essential. CRB can provide personnel training in accordance with applicable Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) regulations. The following classes are offered:

* Pre-inspecting the facility in preparation for state and federal RCRA inspections
* Preparing a Contingency Plan that includes emergency response arrangements with local emergency response contractors and emergency evacuation plans and routes including a site diagram
* Designing an Emergency Coordinator who can implement set procedures in case of a fire, spill or other emergency. This person must be on the promise or on call 24 hours a day
